Shelter

Shelter is a light-art Installation that emerges the visitors in an intense three-minute light and sound experience. While the installation is transparent from the outside, from the perspective of people in the installation, the light obscures the view to the outside providing a virtual shelter and a feeling of security.

Shelter was designed by Jaap van den Elzen, and engineered and realised by Hugo Nagtzaam and Interactive Matter. The music for the show was composed by

LEDs integrated the 16 pillars that form the installation provide bright illumination, and an integrated audio player and speakers provide sound. Interactive Matter created the electronics for the light and sound in the installation, as well as the generative software algorithms that create the light show.

Shelter was first on display during the Facade 2022 Festival in Middelburg.
